To Map or Not to Map, That is the Question

It’s a holiday weekend, there aren’t too many open houses going on, so the answer is – no map for you!

Have a Happy and Safe 4th!

This will give Lori and I another week to sort out our issues with the HCMLS.  Take it easy, go to the beach, have a BBQ or better yet, go play fetch with your dog.  We hope to be back next week with the Open House Google Map.  The posted version will probably not have links, but similar to the Wednesday Wrap-Up, we expect to have an emailable version that we can send to you (upon request natch!)

Happy 4th of July everyone.  Boom, crackle, ooh, ahh!

I still don’t get it. Why wouldn’t every realtor want you to publicise their open houses? If that means using MLS why would anyone care? What is being lost on their end?

FAP, you are correct – it makes no sense. It’s a holdover from the days when realtors hid the info from the customer so you’d have to go to them to learn what was on the market. There are still some agents and agencies that won’t reveal the address of properties for sale. The world has changed – they haven’t. People who seek to withhold information are threatened by the idea that the general public can do what they used to do. They fear obsolesence. If they were clever they would realize that the value they add has to come from more than just owning the info. But the floodgates have opened and once the info is widely available thanks to the internet there is really no holding it back. I hope they learn this soon.
