A Sad Time for The Turoff Team

Many of you who have been reading this blog for a while know that we often talk about and post pictures of our beautiful dog Sempai.  This picture was taken over July 4 weekend on the porch of his country house (yes, we bought it for him) in upstate NY.

When we moved to Hoboken from Manhattan 15 years ago, our landlord would not let us have a dog.  We ended up breaking our lease, buying our home, and the first thing we did was go to the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro and rescue Sempai.  Almost all of our time in Hoboken has been with Sempai at our side.  After 14 wonderful years, we lost Sempai this weekend to his 5 year battle with cancer.  He was one tough little soldier.  He had the most amazing life and gave us happiness that can’t be put into words.

What we also wish for you to know is that The Turoff Team donates a percentage of all our real estate earnings annually to the Joshua Louis Animal Cancer Foundation.

Joshua Louis, who is really Dr. Josh Lachowicz, was Sempai’s oncologist.  His oustanding care (and all the other techs, doctors and surgeons who worked with him) added a good 5 years to Sempai’s life after his initial diagnosis.  Cancer treatment is prohibitively expensive for most pet caretakers.  This wonderful organization helps with those costs.  Josh also writes and performs his original music.  In fact, we feature it on all our real estate videos.  The proceeds from the sale of his CDs also goes to the foundation.  If you’d like one, let me know.

We take solace in knowing that we have donated thousands of dollars to this great cause founded by Dr. Lachowicz.  It helps greatly to know we are giving others the chance to love their cat or dog for as long as possible, too.
