What are your thoughts on buying a condo at a new building like 1400 Hudson, with a view to move out of Hoboken and sell it within 2-3 years? Think the transaction costs to buy/sell would cover any potential appreciation? Or think that it would be a good or bad idea vs renting?

  2. JC

IMO dont buy if planning on selling in less than 5 yrs unless you have a crystal ball.

Why sell? Why not buy, live in it for a few years and keep it as an income producing rental unit and long-term investment until you are ready to retire. Especially in a new, full service building that requires next to no work from you as a landlord? That strategy has made our life wonderful…
