Want to Include YOUR Home on the Hoboken House Tour?

The Hoboken House Tour is an annual event run to benefit one of our city’s most worthwhile cultural institutions, the Hoboken Historical Museum.  It is taking place on Sunday, October 25th this year.  The good folks as the museum are in need of homes to include on the tour.  All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Museum.  Brooklyn Apartment

Now I know the stereotype is that only mansions in Hudson Place get included on these things but here is your chance to shatter that image and suggest some interesting, different homes and not the same old stuff we’ve been seeing for years.  The only unacceptable homes are those that are currently for sale.  How about those apartments above the furniture place on Clinton Street?  Or some of the really old, unrenovated walk-ups that have troves of historical ‘junk’ and look like what Hoboken was before it gentrified?  Looking over a fence while showing a property I recently saw a building with a fig tree as big as the entire backyard and another where the owner was tending to his multitude of beautiful hydrangia plants which entirely filled the yard.  What’s inside these people’s Hoboken homes, I wonder?  It’s time to think outside of the box so here is your chance to get involved.

If you or someone you know is interested in having your home included in the tour, please send me an email at lorituroff@gmail.com.  Thanks in advance for your contributions!  The Weekly Wednesday Wrap Up will be posted shortly.

Want to Sell Your Hoboken Condo? Don’t Give Your Agent a Key!door

I was out showing properties with clients this weekend and had one of those frustrating moments of fumbling at a front door with keys that just didn’t want to work.  We tried and tried and finally moved on to another property.  I called the listing agency’s  office and got the usual response –  “did you try jiggling the key?”  I called the listing agent but got voice mail.  Eventually the listing agent returned my call.  Much to my amazement, when I told him of our plight, his answer was “oh, we don’t have a key to the building – just try ringing some doorbells until someone lets you in”.

I can’t help but wonder, if you lived in this seller’s building and agents kept ringing your doorbell for access would you not want to strangle the seller? If you want to sell your condo, don’t you think it helps for showing agents to have a way to unlock the door?  You just gotta wonder what people are thinking sometimes!
